HON'BLE PRIME MINISTER'S LIVE INTERACTION AND MOTIVATIONAL ADDRESS TO SHG'S AND FPO'S TELECASTED AT KVK, SAMRALA ON 12-07-2018

Krishi Vigyan Kendra , Samrala organized an interactive meet with the Self Help Groups, Farmers Producer Organization, scientists and field functionaries to highlight the government efforts. The web- telecast of the Hon'ble Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi's addressal to the farm women and Self Help Groups of the nation through DD Kisan was arranged at the KVK campus. The Hon'ble Prime Minister expressed his concern to encourage the women empowerment by forming self help groups and FPOs. He talked about various on-going policies and schemes by the government for encouraging women empowerment. Prime minister, Sh. Modi ji said that women in India are doing commendable work not only in maintaining household activities but also contributing a lot to the agriculture, dairy and subsidiary occupations. He appreciated the farm women efforts to supplement family income. He motivated the youth to opt for skill development trainings for self employment.

The Prime minister interacted with progressive farm women/ self help groups of different states and appreciated their efforts. About 40 farmers/ farm women participated in this programme. Mrs. Manjit Kaur, Member Board of Management, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, motivated the gathering to establish linkages with KVK for better agricultural and allied practices. Dr. S.C. Sharma, Associate Director (Trg), KVK, Samrala suggested the women to adopt skills and new technologies for increasing their family income.

Dr. Shivani Rana encouraged the farm women to adopt subsidiary occupation for better livelihood, women empowerment and join FPOs for better marketing. Er. Karun Sharma requested the participants to conserve natural resources and follow recommended practices. Dr Harshneet Singh, advised the participants to maintain kitchen garden for household. During interactive session the queries of the participants were also answered.

At the end, Dr. Amarjeet Kaur proposed the vote of thanks to all the participants.
